Developing Assets in Youth
Mission and Strategy
April 3, 2003
I. Mission Feedback (our purpose, vision and
values)
- Provide information to stakeholders
- Raising awareness of the issues around assets and
development
- Being an organization that serves as a catalyst
for change
- We are a collaborative body with the purpose of
brining other into the cause for social change
- We are passionate about making this an issue and
must not fail
Task Force Mission:
“To increase developmental assets of Martin County
youth by promoting awareness and use of the
Developmental Assets Inventory”
II. Strategy Feedback (how we will accomplish the
mission)
- Mission will be accomplished through a marketing
strategy
- Direct marketing efforts towards existing support
groups
- Target marketing efforts towards “channels” with
the largest audiences
- Target marketing efforts toward specific
communities and kids; kids at specific transitional ages/life changes
- We must capitalize on the emotions of
shared/concerned stakeholders
- We must stimulate behavior changes in kids and
adults – identify and enlist support of
those who care/share interests in developmental assets, and will commit &
“champion”
the application of the resource (inventory). We must find the “curious,
convinces and committed”
Task Force Strategy:
With the goal to keep awareness of developmental
assets and use of the inventory after the task force ends:
1)
Create and execute a mass market awareness campaign.
2)
Create and execute a targeted/customized awareness campaign towards
specific groups that have
the most need or motivation to apply the inventory (who will ultimately
“champion” the cause and resource).
III. Action Initiatives
Answer the following question:
Identify one activity/action that could be done,
that would have the greatest positive impact on
executing the strategy and achieving the mission?
What result or outcome will result from this
initiative?
How will the initiative be accomplished, what are
the steps needing to be taken?
