Develop a fact sheet, “Who to Contact” if citizens want to become
involved in the youth substance abuse prevention efforts in Martin
County.
- Produce fact sheet in multiple languages
- Subjects on the fact sheet will include what to
do if people want to volunteer, what to do if people need treatment,
and what to do if drug testing is needed, etc.
- Fact sheet will be distributed countywide
(distribution plan to be developed)
- Establish a link to the fact sheet on websites
of all Shared Services Network Executive Roundtable agencies.

Implement “Those Who Host Lose the Most” an awareness campaign to
inform parents/citizens of the consequences of serving alcohol to
minors.
2.
Partner with local Chambers of Commerce to develop informational
packets for new children/families moving into the county.
- Include in packet flyers regarding youth from
city and county recreation departments and other agencies providing
activities for youth.
- Include in packet the legal consequences of
underage drinking (document to be developed by State Attorney’s
office, SSN, YES parent group and Martin County MADD Chapter)
3.
Partner with Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Task Force to
distribute newsletters on developing assets in youth to parents.
4.
Ensure that action plan information is shared with community
groups (CRAs/Neighborhood Associations, etc.) |

Implement the WISE Skills curriculum in Martin County School
District (a comprehensive character education curriculum tied into
literacy)
2.
Increase the activities of the SADD/SWAT Clubs on Martin County
School District campuses
3.
Develop a master video of winning Public Service Announcements
from the Shared Services Network Contest in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.
- Distribute the master video to every school in
the county for use on closed circuit TV.
- Distribute the master video to every Shared
Services Network agency for use with their clients
- Make the master video available for viewing on
the County TV channel.
4.
Develop an anti-substance abuse poster campaign using winning entries
from the Shared Services Network contest in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.

Display posters in all schools, SSN Agencies, businesses
and governmental entities in the county.
5.
Continue and expand the anti-substance abuse Public Service
Announcement Contest for 2003-2004.
6.
Approach the Teen Advisory Boards of Martin County Parks and
Recreation and the City of Stuart Parks and Recreation to develop an
annual schedule of teen activities and duplicate the efforts in all
towns in Martin County.
7.
Implement year three of Project Northland (a prevention-based
behavioral curricula used in middle schools, which includes parental
involvement programs, extracurricular peer leadership, and communitywide
efforts for young adolescents in grades 6 - 8). |

reimbursement from responsible persons for the cost of enforcement
